We all have a power colour. A colour we’re drawn to naturally. A colour that when we wear it, makes us feel invincible. For me that colour has long been red. A colour I used to rock with my hair, now days I rock it with my wardrobe and there are many shades of red through my wardrobe! But bold bright reds are forever my favorite, so it was natural I’d love the meshing of two of my favorite things in one look: bold bright red with a 1940s style dress.
The Dita Dress from Voodoo Vixen is such a stunning 1940s dress released in their previous release (they’ve just released a whole bunch of new goodies!). The Dita Dress is available in red, black and burgundy but the bright red really spoke to me. I’ve been featuring Voodoo Vixen on my blog for a number of years now and love their designs for their comfortable fit and quality garment make! As well as their gorgeous designs and prints.
The Dita Dress is made from 100% Viscose which allows it to stretch and mould to ones figure. Featuring a demi-flared skirt, gathered detail at the top of the sleeves, a high neck with a button clasp and button detailing down its long sleeves, this dress is definitely a head turner. The stretch fabric also affords itself to not having a zip. You simply pull this dress over your head to put it on. Though I would recommend doing your hair and makeup after the fact!
The Dita features a stunning high neck with a black button closure. This makes it ideal for pinups who work in corporate or office environments. The black button detailing is also carried down the sleeves, which is another detail I adore of this dress. Cinched in with a belt, this dress is everything I love about the 1940s which being fit friendly for a variety of body shapes thanks to the fabric. I found the sleeves comfortable, despite being firm thanks to the amazing fabric its made from and the only downside is that being a pear I did find it gathered at my waist a bit, but overall that was minimal. If I’d sized up I do believe it would have been too big around my bust/shoulders. For reference I’m wearing the size Large.
To accessorize this gorgeous look I kept with the red theme of the dress and added black and silver accents. Red roses, silver glitter sunglasses and silver hoops help bring some bling to my overall look. A black wooden bat brooch by Tom Sky Store on Etsy gave the perfect dark pop amongst the blazing red. Suede black 1940s heels for the shoes help balance my red Lola Von Rose Handbag. This dress was a dream to style and on cooler days will definitely be a staple I reach for.
The Dita Dress retails for £52.00/$86AU + postage and they ship worldwide. I’ve long loved Voodoo Vixen for their affordability and quality and this dress certainly doesn’t disappoint!
I hope you’ve all enjoyed this review darlings!
