Chic Glam with Stop Staring Clothing

Its amazing how much a dress can affect your mood. That you can be feeling so low and then the right dress just makes you feel bullet proof. I find these sorts of magic dresses can change depending on where I’m at in my mood too. Sometimes florals can make that happen, sometimes its something more simple. I love a super chic look and as usual, Stop Staring has delivered on that with their Anne Marie Navy Swing Dress.

Flowers ~ Red Rose Double from Daisy Jean
Earrings ~ Gold Badgirl hoops by Vixen from Natasha Marie
Brooch ~ Senorita Sherry Blossom from Lady A Broad
Dress ~ Marie Anne Navy Swing dress from Stop Staring Clothing

Handbag ~ True vintage from my grandmother

For those who aren’t familiar with the brand Stop Staring, it’s a high end reproduction vintage brand based in the US, specialising in timeless cuts and styles of dresses with influences from the 1940s and 1950s. My first ever retro dress was a stop staring dress and I still have it in my wardrobe. Incredibly high quality, these dresses are an investment and well worth the price tag. Stop Staring is often my go to when I want glamour and a high polished look and the Marie Anne dress did not disappoint.

Made of Bengaline, the Marie Anne Navy Swing dress is a fabulous curvy friendly frock! Made of Bengaline, this stunning dress has enough stretch to accommodate a fuller or smaller bust while fitting well across the waist as well. Easily worn with a quality back zip, this dress will hug in all the right places and help you feel amazing. I’ve worn mine with and without my corset and very much enjoyed the fit on both occasions. I love that the bengaline lets me wear a padded bra or a bullet bra, depending on the look I’m aiming for.

The Marie Anne is a dress that falls to just below the knees, which is my preferred length. It does have small capped sleeves as well. The neck detail is a simple statement that really helps finish off the classic styling of this dress, with a small collar and a bow. The fabric is also something a bit different too. Polka dots and dots in general can often look quite ‘youthful’ or overly fun in an outfit, sometimes making it more playful than chic. I love the smaller dot pattern in the Marie Anne Dress, as it helps break up the base navy colour without losing its elegance. For size reference I’m wearing an XL and have a natural bust/waist of 40/33 inches and a laced waist of 30 inches.

Keeping to the red and navy tones in the dress, I opted for a red rose double, simple gold hoops and the adorable Senorita Sherry Blossom brooch for pops of red. My Marilyn pumps from Royal Vintage Shoes were the perfect match of footwear and a navy handbag inherited from my grandmother helped finish the look. I’d love to play around with other colours with this dress too, as there is a lot of styling possibility.

The Marie Anne Navy Swing dress is yours for $174US/$217AU + postage! Though its currently on sale for 20% off with their Coupon code FLASHSALE ! As I said earlier, Stop Staring dresses are without a doubt an investment and are dresses you’ll be wearing for years to come! I have no doubt I’ll be wearing my Marie Anne a lot as the weather warms up this spring.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this review darlings! Keep your eyes peels for some exciting stuff coming to the blog this week.

Til next time
