Stepping into the 40s with Royal Vintage Shoes

Its amazing how style can change and evolve as we grow. Now days I’ve shed my ‘modern’ pinup which was where I started in retro with my long red hair and super bold prints (definitely an 80s feel to them too) and now dressing a more authentic 40s-50s look. One of the biggest elevators of my look to a more authentic level has been the footwear and one of my biggest go to brands has been Royal Vintage Shoes! Created by the amazing Lauren, her designs are reproduction of the highest quality with a very strong true vintage influence (they do exact copies of real vintage shoes from their shoe archive!) and her new Rita platform sandals available in her store are no exception!

The Rita heel is a fabulous take on a 1940s slingback platform. The attention to detail in these amazing shoes is incredible, from the cut out patterns on the top to the frayed ends of the laces. The Rita heels are a direct copy of a real vintage pair which as a girl with a wide foot makes me so happy (as true vintage shoes for me are SO hard to find that fit!!). These shoes match so much in my wardrobe and I love breaking them out for days I want to feel a little bit fancier.

The Rita is a platformed sling back which I found to be super comfortable. Made and lined with leather, they break beautifully with only some light rubbing on my little toes during the breaking in period. The addition of elastic in the ankle strap also meant there was virtually no rubbing for me and the laces allow for you to tighten or loosen the shoe across the front of your foot to suit your comfort. They’re easy to walk in, comfortable to wear and can be easily worn with or without stockings.

I found the Rita’s ran true to size and got my usual 7.5 in these fab heels. If you’re unsure of your size Royal Vintage has a great sizing chart that you can use to measure your feet, which I still use before getting my shoes! These Royal Vintage Shoes retail for $160US + postage. This may seem a lot but I’ve come to learn that quality shoes and therefore healthier feet really are an investment. I’ve been wearing my Royal Vintage for a few years now and they’re all still going strong, in amazing condition and I can wear them for a full day without aches or blisters. The Rita’s also come in black if brown isn’t your jam!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this post lovelies! I’m loving being back to posting more regularly again and I adore these fabulous shoes!

Til next time
