Sustainable Swimwear with Miss Janna Swimwear

Happy Friday darlings! Today ‘s blog is one that hasn’t been done in a while, which is a swimwear review. To be honest nowadays, I tend to shy away from things that show too much of my poor battered body. But one thing I’m super passionate about is body inclusivity, so when the amazing Miss Jana swimwear asked if I’d feature one of their pieces, as she likes to show her designs on varying body shapes I couldn’t say no! I took this cozy away with me recently on my spontaneous trip with my man to Hervey Bay (QLD Australia) and it served me well during my time there. Its got me excited for the coming warmer weather too as we Southern hemisphere girls prep for a sweltering summer coming our way (in Oz at least anyway!).

Swimsuit ~ Vintage Flowers Black | Simple Bikini Top & High Waisted Bikini Bottom from Miss Janna Swimwear

For those not familiar with Miss Janna’s Swimwear, its a UK based small business with a focus on making swimwear that emphasizes the female form. Their styles are elegant and flattering on a range of body types which also come in an array of different prints. The biggest thing I love about Miss Janna though (aside from the amazing body positivity of the brand) is that their designs are made from 100% recycled nylon, taking suitable waste products and giving them new life. I love this philosophy so much as in my teen years I really wanted to be a marine biologist that focused on conservation, especially around predatory animals. Sadly the GEC made this dream unrealistic for me to pursue but the cause is still one that I hold dear to my heart. Miss Janna is made in the EU and is also vegan-friendly.

Today I’m sharing the Simple Bikini top and High Waisted brief in Vintage Flowers Black print in sizes 44, which equates to around a UK 18/AU 16 which is my usual size. The top is super comfortable. There are no back ties, you simply slip the baseband over your head and tie the halter. As someone who has previously fallen foul to bikini tops popping open at the bottom, this design makes me feel supported and carefree. It has gathering at the bust line to give it a slight sweetheart cut inclination which I also really like. The band isn’t too firm, the nylon wears nicely and has a comfortable amount of stretch. I can tell the cut will also accommodate different bust shapes and sizes, which worked well for my modest C cup bust. The bust is also double layered, which means its not see through! As a gal with some piercings, I do love this feature as it allows some modesty to my beach look. This bikini top has a definitely 1940s feel and I simply adore the floral print as well as being UV resistant.!

The matching briefs in the high waisted design are equally as pretty. Bikini bottoms are something I often have a bit of trouble with thanks to an ample booty and my endo tummy. But these fit beautifully and are super comfortable. These briefs are also complete coverage, with no see-through fabric which is nice if you’re a bit self-conscious about your bod. The fabric, like the top, has ample stretch while maintaining its structure and it gives a full coverage across the butt which is also a win in my opinion! I like the height the briefs sit as well, I find some ‘high waisted’ bottoms can sit rather now and cut in around my tummy. These have a comfortable sit which streamline my curves and make me feel confident to hit the surf.

The only other thing left to do once you feel so fabulous in a swimsuit is hit the beach! While it was a little TOO cold to swim the day I was shooting, I felt amazing down on the sand in this number. Remember ladies, all you need to be summer ready is have a body. Its a seaon where we do seem to get targeted heavily in the media to be and look a certain way. Its also a time where it can feel like we aren’t worthy if we fall outside that desired form. Please know that in reality, all bodies are beach bodies and I hope you don’t let others opinions stop you from enjoying some water time and embracing you! Its certainly something I’m working on myself and as a result I’m super excited for this coming summer season for a change.

Miss Janna are also a well priced for an EU made product and is a high-quality product. The high waisted briefs are $94AU, (the standard brief is $55AU) with the top setting you back $110AU + postage! Reading other reviews though these swimmers keep very well and I’m looking forward to many summers frolicking in this stunning suit!

Til next time darlings!
