Christmas in cotton with Hearts and Found

While our Northern Hemisphere pinups enjoy a white Christmas (for the most part) here down in Australia and other Southern Hemisphere babes we’re enduring a Hot Christmas in the middle of summer. With such high humidity in Sydney and scorching sunny days, cotton dresses are my do to from December through to February (especially when I have to leave the house ie the aircon lol) and I’m so in love with two gorgeous custom dresses I got from seamstress Hearts and Found I just had to share them! First up is this gorgeous rose number.

For those who aren’t familiar with Hearts and Found, they’ve been growing in popularity among the retro community along my feed for the past 12 or so months especially! They specialise in making retro clothing in custom fit with a number of dress, skirt and playsuit options. Based in Vietnam means their prices are very affordable, even for gals on a budget and it lets your have a dress you love in a fabric that works for you.

This dress is the Gilda style dress, which I selected for the shoulder ties (I’m a sucker for shoulder ties as they allow me a good fit in this *problem* area) and being a floral lover went for this gorgeous “Si Senorita” rose fabric in black, which is part of their ‘fall’ fabrics. The process is very simple for ordering too, which I loved. You select the dress you want and note the fabric in the notes. Super easy!

Gilda dress option from the listing

The Gilda dress features a square shaped bust, the bodice is fitted with a gathered skirt and this dress does have POCKETS! Its fully lined in skirt and bodice in a beautiful lightweight cotton which so far has made looking nice and being out in the summer heat a lot easier! The zip is also good quality and doesn’t snag (an absolute pet peeve of mine) and fits me beautifully laced or all natural.

Hearts and Found have standard sizing but also allow custom sizing as well! For a short torsoed girl, this made these dresses that extra bit special as the waist actually sits on my waist (which for me is like an inch under my bust) and it fits my smaller natural bust. I had this dress made to my natural measurements, so in the heat of summer I can wear it with just a bra and I’m so glad I did. So whats the process once you order?

My Hearts and Found order was shipped within 7 days of orders! The items were shipped via DHL and it arrived from Vietnam to Australia in 5 days! I’ve worn my Gilda a number of times to make sure I ‘road tested’ it properly before I did a review. It washes well with no bleed on
the first wash though being cotton it just needs a steam once the washing is done as it does wrinkle. I’m having to work hard to NOT wear it on repeat atm as its so pretty and comfortable and I’m super excited to hopefully add more Hearts and Found to my wardrobe in 2019.

Each dress is priced style depending but the Gilda will set you back $128.92AU + $35.81 postage, which for a acustom made dress is a bargain. If roses are you’re jam, this dress can be made in an array of different fabrics both patterned and block.

Hope you all enjoyed this review lovelies!
