Hello Summer in the Jenna Turquoise Floral Dress from Elise Boutique

While I’ve never much been a fan of summer weather, I’ve always adored summer prints and clothing styles. There’s just something so dreamy about a floral print, lighter colours and flowy cuts. I’m someone whose wardrobe is definitely either freezing cold winter styled or summer/spring looks and I’m always on the hunt for gorgeous summer styles to add to my ever evolving look. I must say I’m particularly smitten with this gorgeous number from Australian brand Elise Boutique.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the brand, Elise Boutique was founded in 2004 right here in Sydney Australia by designer Thu Nguyen. I simply adore as well that she named her brand after her daughter, as I gave my own business a namesake from my grandmother. Thu’s love of the vintage eras such as the 1940s-60s heavily influence her designs and fabrics used. I also love that this brand is made ethically in Vietnam, with many of their seamstresses being single mothers, which allows them to support their children. I’ve long known about Elise Boutique as I’ve walked past them in Enmore/Newtown many times but was a little unsure of their sizing, being a plus girl and my anxiety has always made it a little daunting shopping in person. But I was delighted when they recently reached out to me and saw they carried a size 18 now, which for me turned out to be the perfect fit!

So lets talk about the amazing Jenna dress! The Jenna dress is a gorgeous 1940s cut of dress which features a V neckline which has a gathered band, a line skirt with some soft box pleating and a soft gathering at the shoulders. As a pear girl whose quite bottom heavy, this design is everything I look for in a 40s style frock. The box pleats help smooth my tummy without looking bulky, the little gathering detail in the shoulders tricks the eye into thinking I’m more of an hourglass and the neckline is softly feminine while still being quite conservative. The cut of this dress makes it a great all rounder to take you from work to a nice night out with just a slight switch of accessories which is always a win. It’s made of lightweight polyester and on this rather steamy day I shot it I found it still incredibly comfortable to wear. The invisible back zip also goes up with ease (yay!) and it comes with a matching fabric belt.

Also can we stop and talk about this fabric print for a second?! Despite wearing a ridiculous amount of pink, turquoise is actually one of my absolute favorite colours. Throw in some beautifully coloured flowers and the print is definitely a win. For size reference this dress is a size 18 which I can comfortably fit with or without foundation garments. Not this fabric has little to no stretch, so make sure you go off the size closest to your measurements.

The stunning Jenna dress will set you back $179AU + postage which for such a beautifully fitting product is very reasonable. I’m super happy with my Elise Boutique frock and look forward to adding more goodies to my wardrobe in 2020!

Til next time darlings
