Shirt Dress Magic with Rock N Romance from Call Me Valerie

I’ve mentioned before how blouses make me so happy….well does it really come as a surprise to anyone then that shirt dresses also do? The functionality, elegance, and ease of a shirt dress just make me so insanely happy. As I’m in the process of phasing out my 1950s wardrobe and rebuilding a new one, when I saw that Call Me Valerie was getting in this gorgeous Shirt Dress from Rock N Romance, I just knew it had to join my new wardrobe.

For those not familiar with Call Me Valerie, she’s a one-woman boss babe from Australia who is filling the gap in terms of repro for the 1920s through to the 1940s! One of the brands she stocks is Rock N Romance, a budget-friendly UK brand that is great not just for experienced pinups but for gals who are after a budget-friendly way to add to their wardrobe.

This shirt dress is called the Lola shirt dress and she is indeed in my favorite colour: RED, with white accents. This made it an easy addition to my wardrobe as I love both of these colours and wear them regularly, especially red which is my self proclaimed ‘power’ colour. I’m wearing the size 18, which I’m wearing in these photos sans shapewear and it fits beautifully. The sleeves are also very comfortable and not too firm, which is a bonus.

The fabric is a Poly Crepe which has a beautiful drape and shapes lovely, though for some it may be a little on the sheer side…but nothing a slip can’t fix. I personally didn’t find it too sheer to not wear my usual brief and vintage style bra.

It also comes with a matching white fabric belt which is surprisingly sturdy and gives a nice nip at the waist as well as breaking the red. This dress is definitely going to be one I reach for often and I cannot wait to see all the different ways I can style it.

This gorgeous shirt dress retails for a friendly $95AU. Yes that’s right, under $100! Like I said, this is a great budget-friendly 1940s dress for any gal! Available from Call me Valerie now.
